Just when I thought there were too many language keys to manage in Dolphin 7 I come across a case where there's not enough of them. In this case, it happens to be the Dolphin 7 Article and News RSS Feed Titles.
For some reason Articles and News seem to be sharing the same key. Meaning I can't have two separate titles for these particular RSS feeds without changing a bunch of code, which I am not that fond of or excited about doing anymore.
The problem I have is the Dolphin 7 RSS feed for Articles and News share the same key, and they are both titled with a lame: News RSS. I burned my articles (Tutorials) feed to Feedburner and created an email sign up form on my homepage. So if someone happens to sign up each time I post a new dolphin tutorial it automatically sends an email notification to them.
What they get in their email looks like this:
The bottom one is the original that says: "News RSS".
The top one is after I changed the key so it says: "Updates from Dialme.com"
As you can see the original (default Dolphin 7 language key) just isn't very distinct.
When they open the email it will look something like this:
You can see the title of my Tutorial, and the description snippet. If they click on it they will go directly to the How to use a smaller faster jQuery with Dolphin 7 tutorial. No funny business, and the message is delivered by Google not from my server or web hosting account. There is an unsubscribe link at the bottom that is managed by Google. So once I set this up I really don't need to do anything. It is one of those set it and forget it scenarios.
You can also check your article RSS feed page by going to:
http://www.yourdomain.com/m/articles/act_rss/
It will look like this by default:
After I changed it like this:
All you need to do is login to your Dolphin 7 Administration and navigate to:
-Settings
--Languages Settings
Type in: news_rss and check the Apply box.
Click on the edit link.
A window will open or appear and you can change it to whatever you want like I have: Updates from DialMe.com
Be sure to save the changes.
Then, refresh the RSS page:
http://www.yourdomain.com/m/articles/act_rss/
The key is shared with the news RSS feed here:
http://www.yourdomain.com/m/news/act_rss/
This is the reason that I used: "Updates from DialMe.com" for the language key because it can be used for both.
Additional:
I would think about using something more distinct and descriptive that represents your website. Just remember whatever you change it to will show up in both the Articles and the News RSS feed.
RSS feeds usually don't bring tons of traffic, but if you use them right they can be helpful and bring a few visitors your way.
