I have only briefly looked over the new download, upgrade and current version 6.1.6. From what I gather what originally was to be an upgrade from 6.1.4 through 7x, now requires applying the patch from 6.1.4 to 6.1.5, and then patching 6.1.5 to 6.1.6. I really hope this is not the case and the possibility to go to Dolphin 7x from 6.1.4 still exists. If not this is going to be extremely time consuming and a big waste of my time, and a lot of others time. I honestly don't get why this would be the case. I will have to follow this and read up on it more. At the present I am not in a hurry to go that route due to all the customizations and modifications I have made to this site. Currently it is not worth my time to upgrade this site for a few little bug fixes this upgrade/patch promises to take care of.
The other thing I don't really get is as far as I understand Dolphin 7x is due out in June give or take. What is the point of a few bug fixes to Dolphin 6.1.4 if this will be out that soon. And now we are supposed to patch, then patch the patch. This to me is totally a waste of time, and shouldn't have been released with the new version supposedly so close to being out anyway. I don't get the thinking behind this one. Oh well it's the thought that counts I guess.
I will continue to follow this, but not even mess with it until further results are reported by others. Even then I will most likely waste more time messing with upgrading then I really want to deal with.
If you have a new or fresh site this probably won't be a big issue to you. If you do have a lot of content, users, and modifications it certainly is something you want to take your time with. Don't jump into it. Your members are used to your site the way it is, no need to jump the gun for a few minor bug fixes.
