Making Money Online

It will be more than easy to find a website that provides tips and suggestions (mostly advertisements) about making money online. They are everywhere. However, you rarely find a single post about how difficult it is.

Most people would like to make money online. For some it might be just for fun and if they happen to make a few dollars out of the deal they are content. Others want and sometimes even expect to make a lot of money right from the start.

Friends, family, and acquaintances have asked me if there is some kind of website or blog they could start up to make money. The problem is most people asking are looking for fast cash. They have little or no experience with web hosting, programming, SEO, development, and things like that. Some of them are under the assumption that they can just put together a website in a few minutes and people will swarm to it. Then, all they have to do is slap some advertisements on it and watch the money to roll in.

I don’t want to discourage anyone, but it isn’t as simple as most people assume. It can take months, even years to start making money online. Some people never make a dime.

Another thing is most people usually don’t make a serious time commitment to their website. Sometimes they start out good, but get discouraged and give up shortly there after. Others don’t put in the time from the start. Whether they are lazy or they didn’t realize it would be as much work as they thought I don’t know.

I usually tell these people it would probably be easier to find a second part-time job, or to work a few more hours per week at their current employer if possible. If you want or need to make money right away this would be a much faster route.

Making money online is not an easy task. It takes a lot of time and hard work. Unless you have an unbelievable unique product, idea, or have little or no competition be prepared to work your tail off.

Anyone that tells you that you can make quick easy money is pulling your leg. It is not impossible, and some people do get lucky or have a great idea, but for most people it just doesn’t happen so quick and easy.

Do some research before jumping into something you are not prepared to handle. Do not believe all the sites telling you how much money you can make and how easy it is. Anyone can post some exaggerated information telling you how rich you are going to be. I don’t know if they even exist or how easy they are to find, but try to find some real people with real stories about making money online.

The good news is the financial investment is fairly low and reasonable to get started or to test your idea out online. A domain name and web hosting for an entire year can be done for $70-$120. I don’t know where else you can start a business that cheap. Certainly not in my local community.

If you go into it with an open mind, and don’t expect to make a lot of money you might be better off. That way if you do make a little you won’t be disappointed. Set your goals and expectations low so you can actually reach them or accomplish them. If you are hoping to make $500 per month and you end up with $5 you are going to be extremely disappointed, discouraged, and most likely give up.

There is money to be made online, but it isn’t easy. If it were we would all be rich. Just keep that in mind.
