Anything new and interesting happening in the world of science and technology.
It’s hard to believe that it has been 12 years since Microsoft released Windows XP. If you are old enough you might also remember versions like Windows 98, 95, or even 3.1, 3.0, and earlier.
When XP came out it amazed a lot of people myself included.
There are a number of names, categories, classifications, or mini eras given to the various generations over the past 100 years or so. You have probably heard of at least some. I don’t know who exactly coined them all. The media probably had an influence on the more recent ones, and possibly all of them.
I know a lot of people can’t get enough of new technology when it comes to all the gadgets, gizmos, and devices we have now. Each time there is a new smart phone, tablet, or what have you available people wait in line for hours before a store selling it even opens. Heck, I like certain new ideas, but I am not going to wait for hours in a line just to be one of the firsts to get it.
When I ask the younger generation what would they like to do when they grow up many of them say computer programming, or make video games (popular with the boys it seems). Nothing wrong with that, or having an interest in it anyway.
I don’t know many adults that are a little older that are either programmers or want to become one.
Time sure flies by when you are having fun right? That’s what they say anyway. The past 10 years flew right by, and I swear time is moving faster than it did 20 years ago.
DialMe.com turns 10 years old on April 21st, 2013! I bought this domain name 10 years ago. I still can’t believe that it’s been that long. It wasn’t always what you see now. After I bought it I wasn’t sure what I was going to do with it so it sat parked for 9-12 months.
I am usually fairly fond of learning new things in the technology department. Even more so if something new comes along that can save me a little time.
Then, there are times like this past week that I get frustrated and irritated with technology. Namely upgrades.
How annoying are captchas? Way too annoying in my opinion. Maybe you have much better luck with them than I do. My success rate with them is on the low side. I mean more often than not I enter the code wrong. Sometimes I know I have entered exactly what I see, and it still tells me that I am wrong.
Other times I just can’t read the thing no matter what. I refresh upwards of 10 times, and I still can’t get one that is readable. I don’t know if I am just unlucky or if we all experience this same situation.
You look up at the clock and it says 3 AM. You know you should have been in bed sleeping hours ago, but you desperately want to finish your latest and hopefully greatest post. Tomorrow is going to be a tough day because if you are lucky you will end up with 4 to 5 hours of sleep at best. Does this sound familiar?
This is a common lifestyle of the website owner or blogger. At least a die hard devoted one. Are you one of these bloggers?
A while back I wrote an article titled: YouTube Videos are They Worth the Effort, which resulted in some pretty decent traffic. I guess anything surrounding YouTube is a hot topic right now.
I have been telling myself that I really need to do more with YouTube. Hopefully this year will be the year I make that happen, and after seeing a decent flow of visitors from that single post I keep telling myself to get it done.
The only drawback I see with creating and sharing videos on YouTube is that it can take a considerable amount of time to produce something decent and worth posting.
