Some thoughts and ideas...

In our opinion the #1 thing you can do is choose a suitable host. Some web hosts are just not setup or configured for Dolphin. We believe if you choose a suitable host that is known to work from the beginning you will have a much more pleasant experience.

We have compiled a list of hosts known to work with Dolphin. Be sure to check the list and visit the hosting companies web sites. Ask them questions if there is something you are unsure about or something in question. We do update this fairly often, so be sure to check back to see if any new ones have been added or removed.

If you have any questions or problems be sure to visit the boonex.com forums and the Boonex Unity. Do some searching and browsing around at their forums they have a big following. Have a question? You'll probably find the answer there.

Backup!! This one is very important. A good administrator or webmaster will have a good backup schedule in place and stick to it. A backup can save you hundreds of hours of work and time if a problem is to arise. Do not rely on your host to keep backups and restore or fix any problems you encounter. A good host will do what they can to help, but most of them only retain a week. Which means if the problem happens to be related to 2 weeks prior to encountering there is the possibility that they wont have a fix for you. This is where your own backups will come in handy. If you retain your own copies of your backups you download from your hosting account you will have the ability to go back further if necessary.

Learn about the script. Read up on it, learn the file/folder structure, where things are located, etc. Follow any updates, news, and forums related to the script. Don't expect to be notified or emailed everytime there is something new related to your script.

Protect and secure your site. Check your hosting logs, stats, bandwidth, and anything else your hosting control panel might have available. Be alert and monitor any suspicious, unusual activity or traffic. Don't assume everything unusual or odd is all bad. Some traffic might simply be related to your host, server, network and related which could be completely harmless and normal. Learn how to determine whats normal and not. Read up on how to block and deny access to folders and files.

If you happened to be visiting here at the moment, this list is far from complete. We are in the process of adding much more to all areas of this site. Stay tuned...and check back for much more!!
