Tutorial

Every now and then someone wants to reverse the order of the comments in Dolphin 7. Some people like the newest comments at the top, while others want the newest comments at the bottom. Or, oldest comments at the top vs. oldest comments at the bottom depending on how you look at it.

Currently: Dolphin 7.0.7 / 7.0.8 has newest comments at the top, and oldest comments at the bottom.

If you would like to have newer comments at the bottom the easiest way I have found to do this is to simply reverse the order in /inc/classes/BxDolCmts.php by changing desc (descending) to asc (ascending).

First you will want to download and backup:
/inc/classes/BxDolCmts.php

Then, open the file from within your hosting account with an editor or ftp client.

Look for:
var $iGlobUseTinyMCE;
var $_sSystem = 'profile';  // current comment system name
var $_aSystem = array ();   // current comments system array
var $_aCmtElements = array (); // comment submit form elements
var $_oQuery = null;
var $_sOrder = 'desc';

Change to:
var $iGlobUseTinyMCE;
var $_sSystem = 'profile';  // current comment system name
var $_aSystem = array ();   // current comments system array
var $_aCmtElements = array (); // comment submit form elements
var $_oQuery = null;
var $_sOrder = 'asc';

Save the changes back to your hosting account.

You are simply changing desc to asc.

Visit a blog or article that has comments and verify that the order is reversed.

To revert or un-do the changes simply upload your backup file or change asc back to desc.

Note:
I haven't tested this in all areas of Dolphin 7.0.x so after applying make sure you do some exploring and additional testing to make sure.
