Couple of questions

First of all, great site. I hope eventually I will learn enough to contribute.

Next, I have been trying to figure out how the website block that I generated in my users profiles can be made into a link instead of the text box that it is now. I tried everything I could think of and never got it to work. Any ideas?

The other thing I am trying to do is move the forum spy from the orca page to a block on the homepage. I made the block for it, but am having trouble converting the .xls to html for the html block that I made.

Not sure about the first part right off hand, but the second part where you are looking for the forum spy in a block on the homepage...there is a really nice FREE mod for this. Very simple to install and works well.

I don't know if that first part made since. I added website and email as an option for my users to display in their profile. But I can only get it to show as text not a link to the url. I noticed your site also has it as text.

I am working on creating a mod to add digg, delicious, technorati links with images to submit content to the bottom of each blog post by my users. Is there already something like this before I spend the time on it?

Thanks for the link also

I see what your saying about the link and email address. This would seem possible, only thing is the more linking and html you allow, the more likely it tends to be that someone will abuse it or use it for harm. But then again we do have a bunch already allowed in our tiny_mce editors already. This has become a big problem with sites like myspace lately. They even have a warning that pops up if you click a link on someones page now, warning you that you are about to leave myspace and be sure you know where you are going or going to end up. Probably just protecting their tails more than anything.

Never tried it in the website text area, but I have in a description area. If I enter the html for the site such as <a href="mysite.com">http://www.mysite.com</a> it has worked in the past. Obviously that's a little more than most people want to do, but that may work providing you don't limit the number of charachters too much in the text field.

I haven't seen anything to dig, delicious, etc for a blog. There is a feature that I have not tried on a photo gallery, video gallery, and music gallery. Under the picture, video or music where you see the actions menu, there is a "Share" Link. When you click on that a new window will open where you can enter an email and message to send, but there are also icons for 12 or so like dig. I don't have an account with any of them, so when I attempt to click one it asks me to register. Something to check out if you have accounts with these though. If that is similar to what you are looking for blogs, it seems like it would be something that could be implemented.

I am going to start working on adding the social networking links and let you know how it goes.

I have another question -> my polls section showing on the homepage, the posters picture overlaps the poll question -> My Site homepage Any Idea on how to fix this?

I would suspect that you changed the icon size in your admin panel...settings...advanced settings for:
Max width of profile icon (in pixels)
Max height of profile icon (in pixels)

From 45 to 75 or so it looks like.

It could be that it's too big for the left column of your page. If you want 75 px you might try making your left column (column 2) for your home page a little wider in your admin panel builders...homepage.

Otherwise a combination of the left column bigger and a smaller pixel size than 75 in max width of profile icon maybe 60-65px.

You nailed it. It was the max profile icon settings - chainging to 50 fixed it.

Adjusting the column size did nothing.

I figured out how to get clickable links in the profiles - still working on the social bookmarking for blogs will let you know when it's done.

Not sure if this is what you did to get the clickable links in profiles for a website, but I played around with this just for the heck of it, and it does seem to work just briefly checking though.

/inc/classes/BxDolProfileFields.php

Change:
function getCoupleMutualFields() {
return $this -> aCoupleMutual;
}

function getViewableValue( $aItem, $sValue ) {
switch( $aItem['Type'] ) {
case 'text':
case 'num':
case 'area':
return nl2br(htmlspecialchars_adv($sValue));

To:
function getCoupleMutualFields() {
return $this -> aCoupleMutual;
}

function getViewableValue( $aItem, $sValue ) {
switch( $aItem['Type'] ) {
case 'text':
case 'num':
case 'area':
return nl2br(process_text_withlinks_output($sValue));

I do not have any couple profiles to verify that this or if it affects anything else out of the ordinary. Haven't had time to check over everything.

The social bookmarking in the blogs I am not that familiar with. You will find referrences to them for the shared link I mentioned earlier in /inc/classes/BxDolSharedMedia.php towards the bottom of the file:
function getSitesArray($sLink) {
$sLink = htmlentities(($sLink));
$aSites = array(
array(
'image'=>'digg.png',
'link'=>'http://digg.com/submit?phase=2&url='.$sLink
),
array(
'image'=>'delicious.png',
'link' =>'http://del.icio.us/post?url='.$sLink
),
array(
'image'=>'blinklist.png',
'link' =>'http://www.blinklist.com/index.php?Action=Blink/addblink.php&amp;Url='.$sLink
),
array(
'image'=>'furl.png',
'link' =>'http://www.furl.net/storeIt.jsp?u='.$sLink
),
array(
'image'=>'netscape.gif',
'link' =>'http://www.netscape.com/submit/?U='.$sLink
),
array(
'image'=>'newsvine.png',
'link' =>'http://www.newsvine.com/_tools/seed&save?u='.$sLink
),
array(
'image'=>'reddit.png',
'link' =>'http://reddit.com/submit?url='.$sLink
),
array(
'image'=>'shadows.png',
'link' =>'http://www.shadows.com/features/tcr.htm?url='.$sLink
),
array(
'image'=>'slashdot.png',
'link' =>'http://slashdot.org/bookmark.pl?url='.$sLink
),
array(
'image'=>'sphere.png',
'link' =>'http://www.sphere.com/search?q=sphereit:'.$sLink
),
array(
'image'=>'stumbleupon.png',
'link' =>'http://www.stumbleupon.com/url/http'.$sLink
),
array(
'image'=>'technorati.png',
'link' =>'http://technorati.com/faves?add='.$sLink
)
);

Perhaps you can use this if it's what you are after as something to integrate into the blogs.

The clickable links in the profiles was done through the database actually. I created the fields then ...

went through phpmyadmin -> into Dolphin database ->pagecompose in left pane -> went to browse -> went to last page and found the category -> selected edit category -> replaced content with this. You would put your database info at the top obviously within the "" -> I didn't write this code but I did alter it to fit what I needed.

$profileID = getID( $_REQUEST['ID'] );

$my_dbHost="";
$my_dbLogin="";
$my_dbPass="";
$my_db="";
$connection=mysql_connect("$my_dbHost","$my_dbLogin","$my_dbPass") or die("Couldn't connect to the server.");

$db=mysql_select_db("$my_db", $connection) or die("Couldn't select a database.");

$sql="SELECT * FROM Profiles WHERE ID='$profileID'";

$sql_result=mysql_query($sql,$connection) or die("Couldn't execute query!");
$res=mysql_fetch_array($sql_result);

$Website=$res["Website"];

echo "<div class=\"boxContent\">";
echo "<table class=\"profile_info_block\" cellspacing=0 cellpadding=1>";

if( strlen($Website) > 0 )
{
echo "<tr><td class=\"profile_info_label\"><br />My website:</td>
<td class=\"profile_info_value\" ><br />
<a href=\"http://$Website\" target=\"_blank\"><b>$Website</b></a>
</td></tr>";
}

if( strlen($Website) < 1)
{
echo "<tr><td class=\"profile_info_label\"></td><td class=\"profile_info_value\" ><b>No contact information available</b></td></tr>";
}

echo "</table>";
echo "</div>";

mysql_close($connection);

Hey just trying out what you posted for the heck of it.

Just wondering if you are sure it's pagecompose? If so on the last page which category are you editing? And what field did you paste the code into?

I was thinking maybe profilefields...website(or other name)...edit, and then pasting it into maybe "check" field or "extra" field.

But I'm just looking at this real quick. I'll look it over better a little later.

Thanks for posting, you never know when someone might be looking for something like this.

Thanks for the update. I see what you are saying now. I looked at your join page, and didn't realize you have a category with website, yahoo, skype, icq, etc all in it's own category area. I thought originally I saw website in another area on your site, thinking you just put it in the general info or misc info area. After looking at your join form I see what you are saying now.

You mean I got you all the way to my join page, and you didn't make an account Surprised

Just kidding

You should be able to use the same idea on any category - even the default categories, just put it to inactive before setting the php function in phpmyadmin

Some people would rather me not signup for their site due to the fact that they have a similar looking site and would rather me not mention my own that looks a lot like theirs. I don't care who sign's up here as mine is generally dolphin related. If they want to post links to their site, I'm all for helping anyone get a little traffic to their site.

So often I stray from signing up for others sites unless they don't care that I post a link to my own site with a similar setup.

And then there is the whole auto-notification mod I was working on that is not cooperating with me that had me tied up, which could be partially be due to all the other customizations I've made to some files.
