The Twitter Follow Button

We have all probably seen the famous Tweet button just about everywhere by now. But, what we haven't seen so much is the Twitter Follow button.

If you are trying to increase your Twitter followers you might want to add the Follow button. Similar to the Tweet button, the code is just as easy to add.

You can find the Twitter Follow Button code here:
http://twitter.com/about/resources/followbutton

You have the option of showing your Twitter user name along with your follower count, or without your follower count. There is an option for light or dark background pages. Which if you select the dark background you can alter the code to match just about any website color.

Here is an example for the Twitter user: Twitter, with a dark background and showing follower count:

<a href="http://twitter.com/twitter" class="twitter-follow-button" data-button="grey" data-text-color="#FFFFFF" data-link-color="#00AEFF">Follow @twitter</a>
<script src="http://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" type="text/javascript"></script>

You can then change the html color codes to match the color of the links on your site. Find these codes in the dark background code:

data-text-color="#FFFFFF"
data-link-color="#00AEFF"

For example with traditional blue link (#0000FF) colors:

<a href="http://twitter.com/twitter" class="twitter-follow-button" data-button="grey" data-text-color="#0000FF" data-link-color="#0000FF">Follow @twitter</a>
<script src="http://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" type="text/javascript"></script>

You could add the Twitter Follow button code to your Dolphin website in an html block, or add the code manually to your desired location.

You will likely need to clear your Dolphin 7 Admin cache for the changes to take effect.

Note:

If you choose to add the code using an html block and it doesn't seem to be working, it is likely Dolphin 7's security is stripping or removing part of the code. In the even this happens you can manually add the code to your Dolphin 7 database using phpmyadmin.

For more information about this, you can see this Dolphin tutorial:
Dolphin 7 Code stripped from Html Block

Obviously there is no guarantee that it will help you gain followers, but it makes it a bit faster and easier for someone to do so.
