Recently I was going through some old email, links, posts, you name it. I didn't look at everything I have or I would be here for days. I just picked some older sites at random. Basically I thought it would be fun to see how some Dolphin sites may have changed or progressed over time.
What I found, at least with the random ones I picked was many did indeed change I guess you could say. A lot of them no longer exist anymore. It's like they are totally gone now. Some are no longer Dolphin based, they are running another script. Some are still there, but appear to be pretty much a default Dolphin install.
It's just kind of interesting to look at some of these sites and see what has become of them. Everyone has their reasons for quitting, changing scripts, moving on, and what not.
I know some of the folks running Dolphin spend a lot of money and a lot of time too. It's just kind of a bummer to see a Dolphin site that looks the same now as it did 6 months ago. Or to even see it disappear completely after all the time and money someone probably put into it.
There are plenty that still exist and have progressed nicely. I guess I was just a little surprised that some are gone now, when the site owner originally seemed very eager and excited about Dolphin.
Certainly this isn't only Dolphin, it happens to all scripts and sites. It's just a little fascinating to me, looking back on some sites.
Anyway, don't give up or get discouraged too easy. Nobody said running your own site would be easy, whether it be Dolphin or any other script for that matter. It can be very rewarding. You can learn a lot about hosting and various internet types of programming and languages. You just don't learn it over night like anything else. It takes time and practice to get good, learn it, and get faster at it.
