Orca Forum Language Files Fail

For those of you upgrading from Dolphin 7.0.2 to 7.0.3 that are having problems compiling the Orca Forum Language you might try changing the /inc/header.inc.php file to reflect build 3, when you get to that point of the upgrade.

If you try to compile Orca Forum during the upgrade and you see:

[L[Language files compilation have been failed]].

Then this might be helpful to you...

If you follow along with the:
Upgrade Instructions from 7.0.2 to 7.0.3

In step 5 Boonex tells you to:

Remove compiled language files from Forum module. To do it, delete the following folders:

modules/boonex/forum/classes/en
modules/boonex/forum/js/en
modules/boonex/forum/layout/base_en
modules/boonex/forum/layout/uni_en

But when you run the http://www.yoursite.com/upgrade script in step 3 and 4 of the instructions you will see something like the following on your screen:

Dolphin 7.0.3 Upgrade

Be sure you keep that window or tab open so you can refer back to the Important instructions near the bottom.

So what works for me is:

1. Run the upgrade http://www.yoursite.com/upgrade

2. Apply all the updates: are you sure / yes

3. Clean /cache, /cache_public/ and /tmp folders except for .htaccess file using ftp or file manager of some kind.

4. Then, remove compiled Orca forum language files in Boonex instructions step 5:
Remove compiled language files from Forum module. To do it, delete the following folders:

modules/boonex/forum/classes/en
modules/boonex/forum/js/en
modules/boonex/forum/layout/base_en
modules/boonex/forum/layout/uni_en

Note:
The above list is for one default "en" language and for one default "uni" template, if you have other languages and other templates, delete appropriate folders for all your languages and templates.

Don't forget other languages if you have them.

5. Then, continue along with the Important instructions.
- Recompile language files for all modules from admin panel -> Tools -> Modules
- Recompile system language file from admin panel -> Settings -> Language Settings
- ! Important - Do not recompile Orca Forum Language file yet!

- Set permissions for the following files:
--chmod 666:
---/flash/modules/mp3/xml/settings.xml
---/flash/modules/video/xml/settings.xml
---/flash/modules/video_comments/xml/settings.xml
--chmod 755:
---/flash/modules/global/app/ffmpeg.exe
--chmod 777:
---/modules/boonex/forum/data/attachements

6. Continue with the Music Player / Video Player Settings if necessary

7. Remove /upgrade directory

8. Change /inc/header.inc.php file:

$site['ver']               = '7.0';
$site['build']             = '2';

To:

$site['ver']               = '7.0';
$site['build']             = '3';

Save changes back to your hosting.

9. Now Recompile Orca Forum language file from admin panel -> Modules -> Orca Forum -> Manage Forum

10. Finally, continue removing or deleting files by ftp, file manager, etc. in Step 8 of the Boonex Upgrade instructions.

This order seems to work well. For some reason Orca Forum doesn't like to recompile until the /inc/header.inc.php is changed from site build 2 to site build 3.

$site['build']             = '2';

To:

$site['build']             = '3';

Once the build is changed and previous steps are completed Orca generally recompiles.

So if you are having trouble with the Orca Forum compiling part you might try changing the site build to 3 before doing so.

Also make sure you removed:

modules/boonex/forum/classes/en
modules/boonex/forum/js/en
modules/boonex/forum/layout/base_en
modules/boonex/forum/layout/uni_en

And that /cache, /cache_public, and /tmp folders or directories have been emptied except for .htaccess before doing so.

Additionally:

You shouldn't run the /upgrade script more than once. It can cause a lot of problems.

It would be wise to restore a database backup to the previous version 7.0.2 and then try again if necessary.
