July 2011 Monthly Uptime Report

I have been using Pingdom's free uptime performance monitoring for a couple of months now. The service has been great. I mostly just wanted to see what kind of uptime I really have.

Pingdom is supposed to send me a monthly report to my email. For some reason I didn't receive a July 2011 report. It is possible that it got tossed out or landed in my junk box and I just didn't see it.

So for this month I took screen shots from within my Pingdom account and pieced them together as one image.

For July 2011 I had 99.93% uptime with 4 outages for a total of 30 mins and 2 seconds of downtime. I have Pingdom set to check every 5 mins. The 30 mins might have been slightly lower if I used the 1 min check interval setting, but I think 5 mins is often enough.

The average response time was 958 ms, with the slowest being 1,449 ms and the fastest being 622 ms. These response time numbers vary considerably because Pingdom has checking stations located all over the globe. Many are 1/2 way around the world. I am not too concerned about the response time. When backups are running on the server the response time will likely be much lower.

The big thing to me is uptime. I am more than happy with anything in the 99% range.

July 2011 Uptime Report:





Last month June 2011 Uptime Report I had 99.81% uptime with 9 outages for a total of 1 hour 20 mins of downtime, and 1222ms average response time. Overall the month of July has been a better performer that June. But, both are more than acceptable.
