Dolphin 7.0.9 is on the way

It looks like we will see a Boonex Dolphin 7.0.9 release in the near future. Andrew Boon just made a blog post about the beta release over at Boonex Unity which you can read about here:
Dolphin 7.0.9 Beta

Generally what Boonex tends to do when they are in the process of releasing a new version or update is put out a beta release for testing first. A few people download, install, and test it out for them. If all goes well they release it or update it with a few minor fixes that gets reported shortly after as a stable version. The period of time may vary from a day or so, to maybe a week.

I would expect to see Boonex release Dolphin 7.0.9 stable very soon.

In the meantime you can visit the link above to download and test it out yourself if you are interested. Keep in mind it should only be used for a fresh brand new install for testing purposes only. There will be no upgrade pack available for the beta release.

There is supposed to be some 38 tickets (fixes, patches, updates, etc.) included in this new Dolphin 7.0.9 version. Some are kind of minor. Others are updates, but I did notice a security ticket mentioned.

So what does this mean?

It means if you want to keep your Dolphin website up-to-date you might start planning for an update. If you have a bunch of modifications and customizations it can be tricky and time-consuming. If your site doesn't have very many mods then it usually isn't a big deal, but still requires a bit of time, and backing up files and the database before jumping into it.

Something to watch and keep and eye on over the next few days anyway.
