Google Webmaster ToolsIf you follow or have a Google Webmaster Tools account you may have noticed Google recently started displaying more links to your site. In the past they only showed or allowed you to see a small amount or some unknown percentage of your backlinks. There has been a lot of talk over the years about how many they actually let you see in your account.

Sometime within the past few days to maybe a week give or take they started showing much more than they used to. If you login to your Google Webmaster Tools account and go to Your site on the web, then Links to your site you will likely find a much larger Total links number than what you were used to seeing.

If you click on the More link you will also see a list of what sites are linking to yours. Along with how many links and how many pages Google has recorded for your site.

You can explorer each site that links to yours by clicking on the link for the name of the site. Then, Google will show you which of your links they have found on each site.

As you can see they are even letting you see incoming backlinks from sites like Facebook.

Webmaster Tools Facebook Links

Whether sites like Facebook give your site or links much of a boost and if they provide any additional SEO is debatable, but at least they are showing you this information and letting you see it with your own eyes.

This just popped up in my Google Webmaster Tools account a few days ago so it is unknown if this will be permanent or temporary. Google is constantly playing around and changing things without warning. They can’t seem to leave things alone. Sometimes it works out well, other times not so well.

I certainly am not going to complain. I have known for years that they do not show us all our backlinks even in our own account.

I guess the question now might be is Google finally showing us all our backlinks? Most likely only they know for sure, but they are certainly showing more than they have in the past. I hope they continue doing so and updating the number of backlinks on a regular basis. I would be happy if they update them once per month.

At any rate if you haven’t looked at your backlinks in your Google Webmaster Tools account lately you might take a peek and do some exploring when you get a chance. You never know what you might find since they started showing more.
