DialMeTime sure flies by when you are having fun right? That’s what they say anyway. The past 10 years flew right by, and I swear time is moving faster than it did 20 years ago.

DialMe.com turns 10 years old on April 21st, 2013! I bought this domain name 10 years ago. I still can’t believe that it’s been that long. It wasn’t always what you see now. After I bought it I wasn’t sure what I was going to do with it so it sat parked for 9-12 months.

Then one day I thought why not do something with it. So I made an easy peasy standard html based site. It wasn’t anything that exciting. I used it for a testing ground more than anything. This was somewhere around the year 2004.

I started playing with various CMS systems, but I wasn’t happy with any of them at the time. I stumbled upon the Boonex Dolphin Social Media/Networking CMS script, which was more of a dating CMS system back then. I tweaked the programming code so I could use it for a more general purpose. It was a much different platform back in those days than what it is today.

They don’t even list a date for the version I first installed and started using, but it was prior to 2007. My best guess is I probably started using it in 2005-2006.

I kept seeing people asking the same questions about Dolphin week after week. It was like the same 5-10 questions all the time. So I thought you know what? I am going to start writing how tos for the questions people keep asking and maybe they will come to my website to find the answers.

My first posts answering these questions date back to July 23rd, 2008. Actually they were posted before that, but I was testing another CMS system at the time. When I started answering these questions using Dolphin as my CMS the date was July 23rd, 2008 and that’s what I used.

So I have been writing Boonex Dolphin Tutorials on the main part of this site for approximately 5 years now.

In June of 2011 I decided to add this WordPress blog to DialMe.com, and I made my first post (kind of lame) on June 18th, 2011, which means it’s just under 2 years old now.

What have I accumulated in 5+ years of using Boonex Dolphin, and 2 years using WordPress?

On the Dolphin (main) part of this site:

  • 200 Tutorials
  • 229 Blog Posts
  • 241 Members
  • 402 Forum Posts
  • 4 Videos

I had more members, but I recently removed well over one hundred spam profiles. I also turned off new memberships for 2+ years strait because I got tired of all the spammers joining just to post links.

I recently deleted several blog posts on that part of the site because they were off topic and a little on the short side. There were 83 news updates, and I removed 80 of them because they weren’t relevant anymore and some were just two short little paragraphs long.

A few other things I am not even counting like member photo’s and such.

Here on this WordPress part of this site:

  • 146 Blog Posts (counting this one) in just under 2 years.

So I have owned DialMe.com for 10 years now, but the content is not a full 10 years old. Still this is a very big accomplishment. You don’t find too many people that have owned the same domain for 10+ years, and 5+ years of content for that matter.

Future Plans:
I intend to keep writing Boonex Dolphin Tutorials on the main part of this site, and I will continue writing assorted technology, WordPress, webmaster resources, etc. here on the blog.

I am still in the process of performing Website Spring Cleaning and maintenance yet. I hope to finish this up before summer arrives! It has been a very time-consuming task that was well overdue.
